From June 16 to 18, the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle (MNHN), in Paris, hosted the Brazil-France Forum “Forests, Biodiversity and Human Societies”. The initiative, carried out in partnership with the University of São Paulo and part of the Brazil-France Season 2025, had the support of the São Paulo Research Foundation (Fapesp). The event brought together experts from Brazil and France in conferences and roundtables, promoting discussions on the historical relationships between forests and human societies, the relevance of ecosystems from the perspective of the One Health concept, as well as the symbolic and educational value of natural environments. On the 17th, during the round table “Forests in the One Health concept”, Professor Erika discussed the importance of studying hemoparasites as a model for studying the effects of habitat degradation on the health of Brazilian ecosystems, emphasizing the results obtained from the solid partnership established in 2019 between UFMG and the Natural History Museum, Paris, France.
